2006 Citizen of the Year
The Parish Council were pleased to announce at the Annual Parish Meeting held on 10th April 2006 PETER TRIDDON as the winner of the 2006 Citizen of the Year.
Peter has been a resident for many years. He and his late wife Glynis, raised their family here and their children all attended village schools.

Peter has been very active over the years in all forms of social & village activities, not only as a participator, but also as a photographer, recording many of the events that have become a part of Caddington's history.

These include the 25th anniversary Fun Day of the Caddington Residents Association, the burial of the Millennium Capsule in All Saints Church, and the very poignant photo of the old soldier laying three cigarettes on the War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday, in memory of his fallen comrades.

A staunch supporter of all aspects of village life, Peter was for many years a member of Caddington Residents Association, later serving as Chairman. In this capacity he worked to improve many aspects of village life, as well as taking part in the annual charity mobile Father Christmas tour of the village, which raised funds to help local organisations.

This work led to him becoming a Parish Councillor, a role he fulfilled for a long period of time, until the failing health of his wife demanded more of his time and energy. During this period, Peter was the driving force behind the installation of the CCTV cameras on the village green and Heathfield Lower School, where he had the foresight and expertise to obtain the very latest technology, ensuring that the equipment would serve the community for many years to come.

Although Peter resigned from the Parish Council before the CCTV system was complete, he continued his work to see it safely to its conclusion.

Peter has invested many years of service in the community, therefore, in recognition, it is with great pleasure to present him with the Citizen of the Year Award 2006.
