Bus Shelter on the Green
After a fight for 15 years, Caddington finally has a brand new Bus Shelter on the Green opposite the shops, which enables residents young and old(er) to wait in some shelter for the bus into town.  Cllr Andy Palmer made this a personal crusade after being harassed for many years by local residents who were fed up getting wet whilst waiting for the bus. Many residents will remember that more than a year ago we asked for your views about the type of shelter you wanted and the preferred location. Finally on 27th June this year, the proud moment of the grand opening arrived. PIC.

We also received a lovely letter from resident Eileen Irwin to say:
"Would you please convey my personal thanks to the Parish Council for organising the great bus shelter in the village.  It fits in so well with the rural setting.  However, the reason I find it so good is because it's so welcome to be able to sit down in it to wait for the bus.  I find the walk from my cottage to the bus stops seems to get longer with the years - so I allow myself more time to do it and it's great to know that there's such a pleasant place to wait.  I'm not alone in feeling this, as everyone in the village who is retired and catches the bus agrees with me.  Best regards to you and my thanks to the other members of the Parish Council

Local residents are making good use of the facility and in spite of local speculation, it still looks good four months in. The bus shelter was built as a result of a long and arduous journey of discovery, design, consultation and funding, masterminded by Cllr Andy Palmer, who breathes a heavy sigh of relief every time he passes the smart new shelter! Thanks must go to Andy for his hard work and determination in finally pulling this off. Thanks and recognition must also go to Bedfordshire Rural Transport Partnership and South Beds District Council Flagship Fund who jointly contributed to the funding for the project, together with your Parish Council. The wooden shelter was manufactured by Littlethorpes and expertly erected by Caddington builder Peter Cox . Additional thanks should also go to Mr. John Cox who kindly donated wrought iron brackets for the bench seating.
